Sarah Abbey stable, and just sleeping, in hospital

My mom is stable, in Intensive Care at McLaren Hospital.
She looks much better than last year just after she had been admitted to the hospital.
She is sleeping, and slightly fidgety in her sleep, as is to be expected.

Dad and Mom were having a nice meal at Metro Beach when suddenly Mom had a seizure.  In my understanding, she stopped being able to communicate clearly then.  Dad decided driving her to the hospital would be quicker than waiting for the ambulance.  She looked like she had stopped breathing one time to Dad as he drove her to the hospital.  However, the next time she seemed to be breathing again.  At the hospital the doctors took her from emergency, to triage, then to intensive care, putting her on a breathing machine, intravenous fluids, etc.

Next steps are for a neurologist to evaluate her, and to wean her off a breathing machine.  Currently she is partly breathing on her own, so hopefully the removal of the breathing machine will go smoothly.

Since she stays sleeping, and gives no reaction, it is unclear how her mind is right now.
She winced in pain when a blood sample was drawn.  That is a good sign.

Her blood sugar levels have been normal.
A spinal tap was done for a test for meningitis.  It is not a prime suspect this time, but the test is being analyzed anyway.

Dad seems to be holding up OK.  He worries about Mom, and has doubts if he could have done something better.

Mom is in the intensive care unit, so visitors are limited to immediate family.  I do not know how close they consider immediate.  However, she is just sleeping constantly right now anyway.

The hospital does not give out health info over the phone, except to Dad and I.
I will try to keep a record of those health updates at http://hrabbey.blogspot.com .  The updates should be available for getting by email via that site as well.  Any significant updates I will still also try to email those who are on copied on this e-mail and any other who request it.  Feel free to forward to anyone else possibly interested.  If you would rather just follow by the web page, let me know that as well.

Thanks for your prayers,
Howard
