Mom physically improved but mentally slightly confused

Mom was completely free from IV tubes this afternoon.  The good news its she did not need them constantly.  The bad news is she still should have them sometimes.  However she pulled them out by fidgeting I am guessing.
Mom was able to get out of bed and walk around the room normally.  She ate a full dinner on her own without mishap.  So physically she seems very good.
She is talking normally, and interacting well.  She was frequently confused about where she was though.  She wondered a couple times why it was not time to go home yet.  A few other times she would get up to put something away thinking she was at home, and only realizing her mistake after 30 seconds out so.
So she has definitely improved faster than last time, but her mind has not caught up yet.
The probable diagnosis is a viral infection.  We are still during to figure out likely sources.  Dad has no ideas.  I have too many ideas of things not the healthiest, but nothing that has changed within the last two years.  So we are hoping some more test results will give more details on the possible infection path.
