A wonderful gift: Mom was able to have a normal day for Christmas.

Mom is eating normally, has normal conversations, and is able to get around by herself with a walker.  She admits to having bad short-term memory, but it does not seem to be consistently bad.

Normality, and lack of anything special, is a wonderful gift that is not appreciated until it has been missing for a while.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Mom is back home!

Mom is eating normal food, and sleeping at home for the first time tonight since 10/12/2013.
Dad is somewhat over protective and nervous, but I can tell he is very glad Mom is home.
Mom is also very glad to be home.

A nurse is to visit tomorrow (Saturday 12/07) to evaluate how Mom is doing, and if anything else is needed for her.

From Dad: Sarah Abbey to come home Friday

sarah abbey is to come home friday afternoon to finish her recovery
thank you for all of your prayers and i hope she will recover fully God willing

Results and data from a small test of phone GPS navigation app data usage

Off-board, cloud based cell phone GPS navigation takes around 1 to 15 megs per trip, with wide variation based on pre-caching, length of route, and other unknown factors.

A limited test on iOS shows Apple Maps and Google Maps to both have under 0.5 megabyte data usage for most navigation steps.
It seems on iOS, Apple Maps has a less data usage compared to Google Maps.  However, it is not a large enough difference, in my opinion, to affect most users.

Scout by Telenav has consistently higher usage, but again it is debatable if over a month if it would add up to enough to affect any users.

The main item to note is if a user wants to save mobile data usage, preplanning and letting system precache data while on a WiFi connection is a worthwhile way to save a megabyte or two of data usage per trip.

Mom to come home Friday.

My Dad sent a message last night that Mom is to come home Friday afternoon, 12/6/2013.
